So sorry about my lackage of posting but between being busy and not having internet at times... yeah

But I have many more pictures to share with ya'll and I will try to get them up here soon!

As far as exercise and health is concerned I have been able to run and workout pretty consistently on this trip which has been nice. I am not running the half marathon I had talked about when I get back because the ticket wouldn't transfer to me. Ohhhh wellll.... but I will be signing up for at least 1 in the near future so I'll let ya know! I read Kara Goucher's new book on this vaca which was awesome! Inspiring indeed! So I'm ready to hit the road/trail/beach and get movin' even more!

I'll be trying to put up another post soon!

Have a great Memorial Day and remember those who have served and are currently serving. Pray for peace and restoration and hope for those who have lost loved ones in this war and past. And pray for those who were fortunate enough to return from war. Deployment doesn't necessarily end just because you return home. Keep praying...

Beautiful weather is irresistible

Workout: Ran 2 miles with Shane with hill sprints mixed in during the middle of the run ( didn't wear my Garmin so not sure on pace). Then ran 4 miles with Kayla (plus a one mile walk) at an 8:22 pace. 75 degrees, sunny... I'm in heaven

Here are a few pics from some recent walks:

                                                                          Flower girls!!!

Pup's first swim!

He loved cooling off after a hot 3.75 walk with Mama and Dad!

The weather this week has been just amazing! I can't seem to stay inside! Getting some awesome running tan lines: Pale upper thighs, white feet, and tank top lines. But I'm NOT complaining!!!! :)

Breakfast: No pic but it was a small bowl of high fiber cereal with strawberries and coffee

Lunch: Ham and cheese wrap with onion and honey dijon, carrots, and pineapple slices.

Healthy, tasty, perfect!
I then proceeded to have a handful of chips to round out my meal :)

I've been feeling extremely tired lately... and joints are starting to flare up so I'm assuming it's my Lyme disease that I've had since I was 13... no need to worry but it's just annoying. I'm ready for bed by 7:30 every night and feel like I need a nap everyday too which for me isn't normal. Blehhh... so between that and the fact that I'll be traveling and vacationing for the next 3 weeks... I probably won't be updating the ol' blog too much. I'll do my best to take lots and lots of pics though!

I hope you all are doing well! Please continue to pray for all of our trips overseas and their families. I am so thankful to have my soldier back and I hope and pray that all of our troops will be home soon! Never forget that freedom ain't free...

Bye for now!

Half Marathon in a month?

Hello beautiful people! I don't know about you but it's only Tuesday and I'm exhausted and ready for the weekend. It hasn't been bad or anything, but I'm just tired. Hopefully I'll sneak in some extra sleep in these next 3 weeks while we're away!

Here's today's breakfast:

egg whites and a smidge of mozz cheese on double protein whole grain bread
Protein much? ;) Yeah I've been trying to up my protein intake lately. It really helps me feel full for a longer amount of time but with less calories. That's a win in my book!

Lunch:

good n green
I had a chicken breast, spinach, and honey dijon wrap with a side of bell pepper slices and an apple. I've also had some mini cookies and a scoop of ice cream. I gotta work on taming my sweet tooth...

Exercise-wise I did a 2 mile sprint/ walk with Shane this morning before work, then walked with Kayla for about an hour and a half with a short 1 mile run thrown in at the end. We might hit up the trail later this afternoon too... we'll see.

My friend Brandy was telling me about this half marathon in Lake Placid June 12... and I think I'm gonna do it! Her hubby was gonna run with her initially but he has training now so I might take his place. Seth might even come and cheer me on! I'll let ya'll know when we officially decide. I will have to squeeze in a few long runs during block leave but that shouldn't be a problem. I really really hope I get to do this!!

How much protein do you try to get in daily?

3 part meal

Hi ya'll!

Here are some pics from this weekend! We took Seth's mom to lunch for Mother's Day at this restaurant in Sacket's Harbor. Food was good but service was a little slow. Overall, I'd give it a B+

Father and Son

Sweet parents in laws
Mom and son reunited for Mother's Day
It was a great weekend and so nice to spend time with family! Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Today's forecast was 66 and sunny so guess what I did...

Black river trail

You guessed right! Kayla and I knocked out 6.5 miles on the trail and I ran 2 earlier with Shane which brings me to a grand total of 8.5 miles for today! It's honestly just too beautiful out to pass up! Tonight I plan on getting my yoga sculpt on and work on my measly muscles.

Lunch was 3 part today... 2 of which I didn't take pictures of. I had half of a protein bar after my run and took Kayla for Mickey D's for lunch. I stole a few fries and 2 of her nuggets which is really a rare thing for me so I didn't feel guilty about it. When I finally got back to her house I had some of this:

Caesar salad with egg white and a plum
I also packed an orange and Muscle Milk Light which I might be snackin on in a lil bit. Tonight's dinner will be fajita's which I'm sure excited for! I live for guacamole and sauted veggies wrapped up in a soft wrap!

Anywho, I'm out... Hope you guys are enjoying your day!

The return of sunshine

8 miles so far... but the sun is still out so we'll see!

Yup, not too shabby today! 3 miles with Shane early today. Ran without my watch though so not sure on the pace but I'm thinking about 8:30- 8:45 min/mi...
then 5 solid miles while pushing Kayla at a 8:08 pace!!! I was physically exhausted and out of breath at the end of the run. Whoop whoop! Gotta love that runner's high!

I'm so pumped that my speed is finally picking up! I'm going to be running the VA Beach Rock N Roll Half this Labor Day with Seth and my sister Hannah ! My time last year at this race was 1:53 so I think my new goal will be to get it under 1:45. Here's to hoping and training my butt off for it this summer!

Food-wise this is what I got for ya'll today...

Runner's fuel
My oatmeal has half of a sliced banana, white chocolate dreams pb, cinnamon, and chia seeds! Complex carbs, protein, and healthy fats. Oh, and tasted pretty good too!

Leftover pulled pork from last night on an Arnold Thin with spinach and roasted broccoli. I had an orange and pita chips with cheese about an hour before lunch so I wasn't too hungry. I'll have a non fat blueberry greek yogurt for a snack in a couple hours.

I am getting so excited for block leave! It starts next Saturday and Seth and I are heading to DE for almost a week to visit family, NC to chill on the beach and look at some schools, and finally to southern MD to visit my family! There will be a homecoming party, 2 birthdays ( Seth's and mine!), and a 2 year anniversary thrown in there so I'm thinking there will be lots of cake, happy memories made, and well, driving. We took 3 weeks off out of the 30 days that we could have taken. Yay for vacations!!

Anyone got a great vacation coming up??

In the groove

Hello friendssssss

I've got some energy today and I'm totally digging it! I've been pretty tired these days overall and been passing out on the bed by 8 or so. Yes, I'm an old woman stuck in a young girls body ;)

So let's catch up on some meals this week...

Monday lunch
A romaine/spinach salad with bell pepper and a heated black bean veggie patty on top with a drizzle of fat free ranch. On the side was a non fat blueberry greek yogurt.

Tuesday lunch
Carrots and un-pictured broccoli with spinach artichoke hummus for dipping. Plus, a almond butter and jelly sandwich on an Arnold thin.

today's lunch
Stacy's Pita chips with salsa/guac/bean dipping, Muscle Milk Light, and a Thanksgivingy spinach salad. In it was turkey, feta , cranberries, tomato, and onion. I topped it with light honey mustard dressing. YUM!!!

I like the Muscle Milk brand for protein shakes.  The light version I have is only 100 calories and contains 15 grams of protein. Not too shabby. I had it after I did this:

self timer beauty
Kettle bell baby! I love mixing up my workouts and thoroughly enjoy kettle bell. It works my lats, shoulders, and many other back muscles which can be hard to get to sometimes. I started off the day with 40 minutes on the elliptical before heading in to work. I'm starting to understand why everyone's so crazy about early morning workouts. It feels great to get in and get it done!

And now I leave you with this little picture: I like to call it "Pure Happiness"

No pics post

Hey hey HEY hey..

It's rainy and cold today here in Northern NY :(  But Shane and I managed to squeeze in a 3.5 mile run early this morning before the rain came down. 8:25 minute pace! I think I'm finally becoming a better runner! My pace has picked up and I'm just feeling really good! Can't wait for summer and warm temps!

I have food pictures for ya'll but I couldn't find the wire to attach to the computer this morning. I'll try and get my hands on it so I can upload some pics tomorrow.

Last night for dinner we had chicken soft tacos. They were the bomb!! I put 3 chicken breasts in the crock pot and covered them with salsa. I came home to a great smellin house and delicious salsa chicken! We shredded the meat and placed it in a soft taco.  A little cheese, guac, and lettuce and they were complete and totally delicious! This dinner literally took 5 minutes to put together! Love it!
Only problem is that something I ate last night ( I had a small bowl of ice cream for dessert) made me completely bloated for the rest of the night. I felt pretty gross but also didn't feel like I over-ate too much or what not... So not completely sure where the bloat came from! Any ideas?? I mean I definitely had a bit too much sodium I'm sure between the chips, guac, and salsa... but it seemed like I was way more bloated that normal! Hmm..... plus I drank alot of water.... oh well... dinner was still great ( as well as the ice cream! ;)

Anywho, I'm gonna get goin but enjoy your day! Get out there and get your sweat on!
