Lately...

We've been doing some of this:

And in just a bit we're gonna do some more of it! Pool time baby!

Sorry it took me a few days to update again. My craptastic laptop at home is not workin with me.

I had to share with you this recipe for delicious chicken-tomato flat bread I made yesterday!

Here is what I used to make this scrumptious lunch:

- Arnold Whole Wheat Pita
-drizzle of olive oil
-1 fresh tomato cut in slices
- 1/4 cup mozzarella
- 1/2 of a grilled chicken breast, shredded
-pinch of garlic salt
-1 tsp. basil

It was easy to make and fast too. Simply open the pita, drizzle with olive oil, place tomato, chicken, and cheese on pita, and top with garlic salt and oregano. Place in broiler for 3-4 minutes or until golden. Cool and enjoy!

I wanted to use fresh mozzarella but forgot to pick it up so shredded it was! There are endless combinations to this as well. Feta, greek olives, pesto! Basically anything you want! Try it sometime :)

BREAKFAST today went un-photographed. Just some Kashi cereal and blueberries.

LUNCH, however...

Mexican Salad!
In my salad contained: Romaine, spinach, grilled chicken, black beans, black olives, non-fat cheddar cheese, and salsa as my dressing. Had a 80 calorie ginger ale (due to some tummy troubles), and a snack size p.b. snickers. Yum!

WORKOUT: Walked, sprinted, jogged with Shane for 2 miles early. Then Kayla and I ran 3 miles and walked 1. I wanted to do some strength training today while Kayla slept but my tummy's still hurtin... we'll see.

This has felt like a long week. Seth's been under the weather and I've been working alot. I love my jobs though so not complaining... just looking forward to a slow weekend.

Weekend wrap up

Great way to start the week!

Good morning to you guys on this beautiful Monday!

This weekend was fun and relaxing and I loved hangin out with my man. It really is nice to look forward to the weekends again!

Friday night we just stayed in and chilled. Chinese and a movie. :)

Saturday morning Seth, myself, and Shane went on a 4.5 mile run after I worked at the gym for a couple of hours. It was suuuuper hot because we didn't end up leaving until 11:30. Still a good run though at 9:00/min mile. (side comment: Seth had a PT test this morning and kicked trash. He ran 2 miles in under 13 minutes!! Way to go babe!)

Saturday night we went out to dinner at a place we hadn't tried: Maggie's on the River

handsome, no?

The food was really great! We shared a goat cheese/sauce appetizer and I had the veggie "burger". It wasn't your typical burger because it wasn't a patty. Just sauted veggies stacked in between a bun. Not bad :)
After dinner we went home to nap (necessary for us old folks) then saw a 9:30 showing of Water for Elephants. It was pretty good but I wasn't sure I was buying the chemistry between Robert P. and Reese. Oh well, it was worth it for 5 dollars!

Sunday was church, a walk, and delicious chicken on the grill with sweet potato fries and roasted broccoli! Plus a brownie sundae with Reese's ice cream :)

Workout: Sprint/ jog with Shane for about 15 minutes this morning followed by a 3.5 mile jog with Kayla at 8:32 pace. Hoping to either get in weights on yoga sculpt later!
Enjoy your day!

Random question: Why does everyone walk around these days with frowns and scowls on their faces?
I was in Walmart earlier and realized that no one likes to smile and be friendly anymore. At least not where I live. Fort Drum has the tendency to deploy their soldiers like crazy and I understand that that can effect the overall mood at times... but I still don't understand. You walk past someone on the sidewalk and not only do they not smile, most of the time they don't even look at you. I guess I'm just getting ready to leave this place. We're hopefully moving to a much friendlier and warm place: North Carolina! We've still got 6 months or so here but I'm definitely looking forward to this move! Keep us in your prayers if ya can.
There's still a lot of unknown and pieces that need to be pulled together. Gracias!

Moving on to BREAKFAST: Oatmeal with 1 tbs. honey, blueberries, cranberries, and chia seeds

Yummy and nice to look at: double win!

Lunch I'm still working on but here it is:

Chicken caesar salad with spinach, tomato, and romaine. Almonds and an apple on the side. I may or may not also be enjoying a cold diet pepsi too ;)

EXERCISE thus far... 2 mile run with Shane and a little over 8 mile bike ride with Kayla being pulled behind. Whoo! Good workout right there. And I'm loving the cross-training too! This afternoon Shane, Kayla, and myself will go for a nice 4 mile walk at a local trail.

And to wrap things up, here's a picture of me that no one asked for but I'm putting up anyways

hippie/9th grade style..whoooo!
Have a great day guys and let's try to smile more! :)

An Interval Way to Start the Week

So it's the beginning of a new week! Not a bad start for me...although my ankle/foot has been giving me a little trouble because I rolled my ankle yesterday on my run :/ It seems to be getting better as the day is wearing on. Anywaaaays, back to what I was saying! Pretty nice start to the day with a 2 mile run with Shane and just finished a 2 mile interval sprint/walk:

good n schwetty
After my morning run I had a banana, pb, cinnamon sandwich for b-fast:

bringing back banana!
Lunch was eaten at Applebees with this little girl

and my good friend Chantel. I had a cup of tomato basil soup and a house salad. Plus 2 breadsticks... ya know, gotta get those carbs in ;)

I've got my first workout with a new client later tonight which I'm excited about! Hopefully I'll get back home in time to watch the Bachelorette. I'm a little addicted and slowly getting Seth into it as well :)

Hope you all have a great Monday! Remember that it takes effort to look and feel good... and it can start right NOW!

Lazy blogger award goes to...

Me!

Happy Sunday!

Sorry for another lame post with no pics but I haven't had my camera on me. I'll try to hop back on the wagon tomorrow!

Workout today was a simple 5 mile run with Shane.

Looks like a busy week coming up work-wise.
2 clients tomorrow and some late nights at work. But can't complain about the added income!

I'm off to grocery shop with Sethmonster...

Pace improvement

4 miles in humidity DONE

and my pace was much more acceptable today: 8:17/mi :)

and I tried to take pics of my food and what not but I need to charge my camera. I know, bad blogger.

but I'll tell ya what I had today! (cuz I know ya'll are just dying to know)

Breakfast: Kashi hot cereal made with milk and blueberries

Lunch: Garden salad with romaine, mushrooms, green pepper, tomato, and onion and a light rasp. vinaigrette. Plus leftover white chicken chili with a handful of tortilla chips and a peppermint chocolate luna bar. Yummmm...

Kayla and I had fun at the splash park this morning. It's still hot so it was refreshing to run through the water and pretend like you're 3 again. Ahhh the days of summer are here! One of my favorite past times is coming home from a day at the pool and getting all cold and cuddly at home in the AC. Cozzzzyyyy...

Welp, ya'll I better get goin. I've got a few clients to email. By the way, it feels pretty dang good to get back to being a personal trainer. I got a new client last night and I'm super excited to workout with her! Whoooooo!

Since when does Upstate NY get humidity?

So Monday night was our Anniversary as I had previously mentioned, and I got the royal treatment for dinner. I didn't have to do anything! And Seth made delicious baked ziti with garlic bread, sausage, caesar salad, and wine!

the yummy fixings

creeper...
Yup, I also received red roses and a sweet card! Yayyyy for having the husband around for important things like anniversaries, birthdays, etc. We finished off our meal with cinnamon buns! Haha  he's cute, eh?
The food was all very delicious as well so PROPS to you babe!

Yesterday morning after my run with Shane I enjoyed a nice n' cold chocolate strawberry smoothie. I put frozen strawberries, chocolate protein powder, a small handful of spinach, and some milk and ice cubes in the blender and enjoyed my tasty creation!

I exercised quite a bit yesterday! 5 miles of running completed and 2 miles walked. yayyyy! Today I just wasn't feeling a run so Shane and I ran/walked to the gym and I did 20 minutes of upper body work. This will probably be it for exercise today. It's hot (85) and humid today and I don't feel like getting drenched with sweat mid-day so I'll just take off.

I have 2 initial consultations tonight after work and white chicken chili in the crock pot. Busy day but at least I don't have to worry about dinner! Plus, it's delish! You can find the recipe here. I've made it many times and it never disappoints! Plus, it's really easy which is key for me.

Alrighty well I'm off to read Tina Fey's book Bossypants. Love it so far!!

100th post and Strawberry Greek Spring Salad

Whoooo made it to my 100th post! Sorry it took me so long to get here. What can I say? I was lazy on vacation.

Anyways, here's how I started out my day!

Shanester likes sneakin in pics
It was my half whole grain bagel with laughing cow wedge and egg whites. And some spinach thrown in for good measure :)

And this is what I just kinda finished:

Greek is delish!
My salad contained: Romaine, spinach, sliced strawberries, onion, kalamata olives, feta, and my last minute grilled turkey (?) from Kayla 's fridge. That last bit kinda messed it up for me only because there was a bunch of fat in the turkey like substance and after picking it out repeatedly I just chucked it and only ate a little more of the salad. I finished off my lunch with nice cold blueberries. I'll be eating some almonds here in a bit.

It feels so so good to be back to my old schedule! Food-wise, work-wise, everything! I really thrive on being on a schedule. It was GREAT seeing Kaylabug this morning too! I missed her soooooo much!! And was greeted with the sweetest face and biggest hug this morning :)

Workout: Sprinted/walked with Shane this morning for 2 miles. Then ran 3 miles with Kayla/walked 3.8 on the trail this morning while chatting away with my good friend Corie! Now I'm exhausted but gonna try and do some arm free weight work in a minute while Kayla sleeps. Gotta feel the burrrrrnnn.

Also.... Happy 2nd Anniversary to my wonderful husband! Here's to many, many more... Love you!

Our Block Leave: Part 2

Hiiiii guys! Before I get to part 2 of my trip, here's a picture of the little b-day "cake" I made for Seth yesterday. It's nothing great but I've done worse...

And now for part 2 of our trip....

We headed to the OBX for 4 days to stay at our good friends house at Nag's head!

We went out to dinner to celebrate my birthday a day early and we got spiffed up!

We also had a blast at the san dunes!! I went for a 4.5 mile run to the park at sunset and soaked up God's beautiful creation!
